2026 Battle of the Chefs
St Peter’s Catholic College was proud to host the 2026 Catholic Schools Broken Bay Battle of the Chefs in our outstanding Trade Training Centre kitchens. The event brought together talented Year 11 and 12 students studying the Stage 6 NESA VET Hospitality – Kitchen Operations and Cookery course, with each College represented by a team of three.
This year’s competition showcased an exceptional level of creativity, teamwork and technical skill in a live, industry-style environment. Teams from across the Diocese—including Brigidine College St Ives, MacKillop Catholic College, Warnervale NSW, Mater Maria Catholic College, St Brigid’s Catholic College, St Leo’s Catholic College, Wahroonga, St Paul’s Catholic College, Manly, and our very own team from St Peter’s—delivered impressive dishes that reflected their dedication and passion for hospitality.
Students were challenged to design and prepare a Modern Australian café-style main dish, alongside a technically refined trifle dessert, within a timed kitchen setting. Throughout the competition, teams were assessed on taste, presentation, hygiene, creativity, and teamwork—mirroring real-world hospitality standards.
After months of planning, preparation and practice, our students rose to the challenge and impressed the judges with their culinary expertise, innovation, and professionalism.

Celebrating Our Judges and Guests
We were honoured to welcome an esteemed panel of judges from TAFE NSW, whose industry expertise and constructive feedback provided invaluable learning opportunities for our students.
Special thanks to our guest judges, Director of Schools Danny Casey and Very Rev Fr David Ranson, for their support and engagement in this significant event.
We also acknowledge Anthony Iacovazzi, guest judge from TAFE NSW and proud St Peter’s alumnus. A former School Captain and member of the 2023 winning team, Anthony’s journey—from school to further study, industry recognition, and a scholarship opportunity in London—served as an inspiring example of pathways in action for our students.
