Creative & Performing Arts
Find your voice.
Make something your own.
A song, a movement, a character or an idea can be the beginning of something meaningful.
At St Peter’s Catholic College, dance, music, drama and visual arts give students opportunities to explore their creativity, develop their skills and share their ideas. Along the way, they discover the satisfaction of practising, creating and working towards something together.
Room to explore. Encouragement to grow.
Some students arrive with a passion they have pursued for years. Others discover an interest through a lesson, a rehearsal or the encouragement of a friend.
Through classroom learning and creative opportunities beyond lessons, students can explore what interests them and develop the confidence to express themselves. The process matters: trying an idea, responding to feedback and seeing how far practice can take them.
Music & Band
Discover the joy of making music
Music brings individual expression and shared experience together. Through listening, creating and performing, students develop musical understanding and learn to communicate through sound.
Band and music opportunities offer ways to play alongside others, build confidence and contribute to a shared performance. Learning to listen to one another is as important as learning their own part.
Contact the College to find out about current music groups, instruments and participation arrangements.
Dance
Express an idea through movement
Dance combines creativity with concentration, physical control and practice. Students explore how movement can communicate an idea, tell a story and connect with an audience.
Rehearsing and performing with others creates opportunities to develop technique, respond to feedback and work towards a shared goal.
From the studio to the stage, each experience offers another opportunity to grow in confidence.
Drama & Musicals
Step into a story
Drama invites students to imagine different perspectives, develop characters and explore how stories are told. It encourages careful listening, clear communication and the willingness to try something new.
Productions and musicals bring these skills together. Students experience how individual contributions become part of a larger performance through rehearsal, collaboration and commitment.
The College can advise families about upcoming productions and how students can get involved.
Visual Arts
See possibilities. Create meaning.
Visual Arts gives students space to observe, question and express ideas in their own way. Making and responding to artworks helps them explore different perspectives and develop a personal creative voice.
Students learn that creating takes time. Experimenting, refining and reflecting are part of developing work that communicates something meaningful.
Performance & Production
A shared effort, on stage and behind the scenes
A performance brings together much more than what an audience sees on stage. Sound, lighting, vision and careful preparation all help bring a production to life.
The College Hall includes a stage with sound, lighting and audiovisual facilities. The sound, visual and lighting studio also supports practical learning in entertainment production, including VET Entertainment.
These spaces connect creative interests with the technical skills involved in performances and events.
Design & Digital Creativity
Take an idea further
Creativity also finds expression through design and technology. A sketch, technical drawing or digital model can help turn an idea into something others can understand, explore and refine.
These related learning areas connect imagination with practical problem-solving, encouraging students to consider how something looks, works and communicates.
