Six schools, 24 performances and one unforgettable celebration of dance talent across our Central Coast Catholic school community.

On Thursday 27 August, St Peter’s Catholic College Tuggerah Lakes welcomed students from Years 2 to 12 for the 2026 CSBB Dance Showcase, bringing six Central Coast Catholic schools together for an evening of performance, connection and celebration.

Six Central Coast Catholic schools, one shared stage

Students proudly represented:

• St Joseph’s Catholic College
• MacKillop Catholic College
• St John Fisher Catholic Primary School
• Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic School, Shelly Beach
• St Cecilia’s Catholic Primary School

Hosted by St Peter’s, the showcase was not a competition. It was an opportunity for students to celebrate their shared love of dance, support one another and experience the joy of performing for a live audience.

The 24-performance program reflected the breadth of dance opportunities available across Catholic schools on the Central Coast, including primary and secondary dance troupes, elective dance, ILP Dance, senior Core Performance and student choreography.

A professional stage experience for younger dancers

For the younger dancers, the opportunity to perform on a high school stage with professional lighting and sound made the event especially memorable.

“It was really fun performing at the high school and I liked the cool dance moves. Thank you to Miss Williams, Miss Kelaher and Mrs Johnson for giving up their lunch times to teach us the dances. I love dancing in the dance troupe.”Avery, 8 years old

Seven-year-old Tully loved experiencing the St Peter’s stage and reconnecting with former OLR students who are now in high school.

“I was so excited when I found out that we were going to be able to dance at St Peter’s. We have been practising this dance since the beginning of the year at school and our stage is so much smaller. It was so cool having all the lights and sounds. I loved seeing all our old friends from OLR who are in high school and getting to watch them dance on stage. It was just the best day ever. Celebrating connection across primary and secondary schools

For St Peter’s Year 7 student Ayla, the showcase was also an opportunity to reconnect with her former primary school while celebrating the next chapter of her dance journey.

“I had such a great time performing at the Showcase! It was so special getting to see my old primary school, St John Fisher, and then perform alongside my new high school friends from St Peter’s. Everyone was so lovely, and all of my teachers are amazing! I’m so grateful to be part of the St Peter’s Dance Troupe and can’t wait to be involved in this special event again next year!”Ayla, Year 7

Fellow Year 7 student Sienna said the opportunity to meet other young performers who share her passion made the event even more memorable.

“I really enjoyed being given the opportunity to perform on stage with all my dance friends and meet so many other students from different schools who share the same love and passion for dance. It was so much fun, and I loved being part of such a special event! I can’t wait to do it all again next year!”Sienna, Year 7

A whole-community effort

An event of this scale takes an enormous collective effort. A special thank you goes to Miss Nakhoul and Mrs Brook, along with all the dance teachers and choreographers who dedicated countless hours to preparing their students and ensuring the showcase ran smoothly.

We also extend our sincere thanks to Shane LeBreton, Leader of Learning CAPA, for his leadership and support and to Ian Judge, who was responsible for the lighting on the night.

From the sound team and stage runners to the marshalling team, staff and volunteers, it truly took a village to bring the event to life.

Most importantly, congratulations to every student who stepped onto the stage. St Peter’s was proud to bring together so many talented young performers and provide an opportunity for students from across the Central Coast to perform, connect and celebrate their shared passion for dance.
